Production Supervisor

The Company

The Acme Group consists of three divisions – Acme Mills, Fairway Products and Great Lakes Filters. Collectively, these three companies work in the manufacture and wholesaling of textiles and fabrics for automotive, furniture and filtration applications. The Acme Group is a family owned business since 1917.

The Role

The Production Supervisor will report to the Production Manager and will be primarily responsible to plan, coordinate, organize, and control efficient production of goods and services. The Production Supervisor will continually evaluate the production processes for waste elimination and implement lean and agile manufacturing improvements where economically appropriate. The Production Supervisor will work with the Production Manager to accomplish department and company Strategic Planning goals and objectives.

The Production Supervisor will work closely with the production staff as direct reports regarding day-to-day production environment decisions including production resource planning (PRP), staffing levels, and skilled training.

The Production Supervisor will model company values and actively work to create the work environment that embraces and encourages these values.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and scheduling production activities and supervising the production process.
  • Ensuring the effective management of production employees and work centers.
  • Works with the Product Development Manager to estimate production costs.
  • Develops and documents process routers and work instructions.
  • Works with Purchasing Department regarding material needs.
  • Works with Director of Quality to insure high quality standards in all production processes.
  • Focused on safety first in all areas.
  • Communicate issues that would prevent the company from meeting needs of our customers.
  • Leads by example and communicates effectively with all employees. Models company values and desired behavior.
  • Builds trust and motivates to produce engaged employees and optimal team member performance.

Knowledge, Skills and Education

  • Effective leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • More than one year experience effectively supervising and leading production personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Experience with ERP systems and ability to use them effectively.
  • Working use and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principals and concepts.
  • Minimum of high school diploma. Additional education and experience preferred.
